#HoKnows there is nothing groundbreaking about florals for Spring. But what makes Givenchy’s version of a Birkenstock Arizona this season the perfect balance of style and substance is the levels of sampling and quality in this iteration of a classic.
This Italian made pre or post workout essential, features a premium soft footbed that is therapeutic and supportive. But the more interesting tale is the print of the sandal. What started as a painting by French artist Henri Fantin-Latour entitled, “A Basket of Roses” was reproduced by designer Peter Saville for New Order’s second studio album, “Power, Corruption & Lies.” In a collaboration with Raf Simons in his 2003/4 “Closer” collection Saville graphics were featured. Almost thirty years later Supreme brilliantly re-appropriates the floral graphic for a collection of fleece, t-shirts, hats, sneakers, and skate decks. The following year we find Givenchy creating their own version of history.
